Meet Midlothian, TX Dentist – Dr. Ellis

Dr. Jerry Ellis graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1983 and opened a private practice in Midlothian that same year. He earned the prestigious Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1991 and maintains a strong commitment to continuing education in order to provide his patients the latest dental technology and materials.

His wife, Saundra, retired in 2011 after a career in elementary education. She is now the Office Manager and Hygiene Coordinator at the office.

They have 3 adult children, Susan, Ross, and Neal, who attended Midlothian public schools. Susan and her husband live in Dallas and have 2 daughters and 1 son.  Dr. Ross Ellis is a chiropractor in Richardson at Catalyst Spine & Sports Rehab. He and his wife, Becky, have 2 daughters.  Neal and his wife, Leslie, and their 4 daughters live in Georgetown, where Neal is a Vice-President in HR for Lexitas.

The required number of Continuing Education (CE) hours by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners is 12, of which 6 must be “Live.”  For 2023, Dr. Ellis completed 62 hours; for 2024, he completed 36 hours.  For the past 5 years, he has averaged 58 hours, about 4 1/2 times the requirement.

This commitment by Dr. Ellis to be a “Perpetual Student” began during dental school, when it became apparent that dental products and techniques were evolving even during those 4 years.  Since his graduation in 1983, the changes in technology and products have exploded.  Ongoing CE is indispensable for Dr. Ellis to learn and maintain the knowledge about products and technical skills with which to provide his patients the latest, proven, effective dental treatment.

In 1991, Dr. Ellis earned the prestigious Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, requiring 500 hours of CE and successful completion of a 2 day comprehensive written dental examination, an award earned by only an estimated 6% of general dentists in the US and Canada.

For the past several years, Dr. Ellis has been named one of "America's Best Dentists" by the National Consumer Advisory Board, an award "Based on evidence of superior training, experience, continuing education and commitment to excellence."

As his patient, you have the advantage of receiving treatment by a professional who has shown dedication to undergoing the necessary training and education to understand the latest advancements in the field of dentistry.
